DIME BANK FOUNDATION DONATES $3,000 TO CHILD ADOPTION RESOURCE ASSOCIATION, INC.
The Dime Bank Foundation has awarded a $3,000 grant to the Child Adoption Resource Association. The funds are used to evaluate families to adopt children from the state foster care system.

NEW LONDON, CT, October 29, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Dime Bank Foundation has awarded a $3,000 grant to the Child Adoption Resource Association. The funds are used to evaluate families to adopt children from the state foster care system.

Sandra Couillard, Executive Director of Child Adoption Resource Association, accepted the Dime Bank Foundation's grant with delight. "CARA's mission of finding adoptive homes for children will be greatly enhanced by the Dime Bank Foundation's gift. Recruiting forever families for children is the goal of Project Connecticut's Child and this grant money will enable our agency to raise awareness concerning the great need for adoptive families among New London County residents."
CARA is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3), licensed, child-placing agency committed to finding families for children in need of adoptive placement. CARA helps with the adoption of children from the foster care system, domestically, and internationally. CARA provides home studies and educational training for all types of adoption, counsels pregnant women considering placing children for adoption, and supports post-adoptive families.

In 1869 Dime Savings Bank of Norwich was founded. The mutual savings bank was established to provide banking opportunities to all the people of its community. It has grown from one branch serving one community to ten branches serving communities throughout southeastern Connecticut and the Westerly/Pawcatuck area. In 1998, Dime Bank established The Dime Foundation, enabling the bank to support and give back to the communities it serves, providing funding for charitable, cultural, literary, scientific and educational non-profit organizations. In its first year, more than $50 thousand was distributed. Each year thereafter, the number and amount of grants has increased. In 2007, over $165,000 was disbursed to 47 different organizations
