Local Manchester, Connecticut Police Athletic League Martial Arts Instructors are set to receive National Honors.
On January 10, 2009 Action Martial Arts Magazine will hold its 9th Annual Hall of Honors & Awards Banquet at the Tropicana Casino & Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Referred to as the "Academy Awards of Martial Arts", the black tie event in the largest gala held in Atlantic City.

MANCHESTER, CT, December 07, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On January 10, 2009 Action Martial Arts Magazine will hold its 9th Annual Hall of Honors & Awards Banquet at the Tropicana Casino & Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Commonly referred to as the "Academy Awards of Martial Arts", this black tie event continues to be the world's largest gathering of martial arts superstars, film, television & combat celebrities, and renowned martial arts masters from around the world. It also remains the single largest Banquet Gala held in Atlantic City, with over 1300 in attendance each year.

A small sampling of featured guests expected to attend include Cynthia Rothrock, Chuck Zito (Oz), Don "The Dragon" Wilson, Bill "Superfoot" Wallace, Dan Severn (Universal Fighting Championship), Phil Morris (Mission Impossible), Hank Garrett , Christine Bannon-Rodriquez, Joe Lewis, Michael J. White, John Pellegrini, Gary Alexander and many more.

The local martial arts instructors slated to be recognized are the senior-most instructors with the Manchester Martial Arts School, a Manchester Police Athletic League program. The instructors came to the attention of the board of governors and awards committee for Action Martial Arts Magazine's Hall of Honors as a result of their many years of selfless, dedicated and exemplary service to our community's youth, all of which they do as volunteers.

The local martial arts instructors who are set to be inducted into the [AMAM] Hall of Honors this coming January are: Senior Professor Bruce Tyler, 7th Degree Black Belt; Associate Professor Joel White, 5th Degree Black Belt; Sifu David Furst, 4th Degree Black Belt and Sifu Seth Michalek, 3rd Degree Black Belt.

The group operates their [PAL] martial arts program out of the Ju Nan Shin Martial Arts Academy located at 801 Hartford Road, Manchester, CT. Classes are open to all youths who are at least six (6) years old and parents are welcomed and encouraged to join with their children. Annual registration is just $20.00 per student, plus a $10.00 uniform fee, with no recurring monthly dues or fees. The Manchester Police Athletic League is a registered nonprofit organization and operates through the generosity of tax deductible donations from private citizens and organizations alike. Class times are as follows: Mondays 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm; Fridays 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm;
