Library Relocations Simplified with Technology Solutions from William B. Meyer, Inc.of Stratford Connecticut
The William B. Meyer inventory locator system provides a lower-cost technology solution with a high-density storage model for library relocations.

CHESHIRE, CT, June 22, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- More and more, libraries need to rely on their relocation partners to offer technology solutions to get them through their short-term relocation project and prepare them for longer term storage requirements. One such technology solution has been developed by William B. Meyer, Inc., a premier library relocation specialist.

The William B. Meyer inventory locator system provides a lower-cost technology solution with a high-density storage model. This allows for an increase in high-density shelving capacity of up to 40% and eliminates the need to ever interfile or shift collections. The inventory tracking system provides accurate material tracking through every phase of a relocation project, as well as detailed location information when in storage for easy and efficient retrieval.

Making use of handheld scanners and a custom software interface to handle requirements specific to each project, each program is designed with a user-friendly interface providing library personnel with complete control over any transition regardless of size. Volumes are tracked throughout every aspect of a move, they are matched against existing library database records, and their location is accurately recorded and reflected at all times.

The system also offers:
Detailed inventory reports: The system can generate customized reports including any selected data associated with a particular bar-coded item. This eliminates the traditional paper-based, physical print-outs which provided little or no data for missing or mis-shelved volumes, or detailed information on inventory.

Tracking: By scanning materials at a shelf level, a validation file can be generated for complete accountability from the time the material leaves the shelf to when it is finally located in a storage facility.

Opening Day Collection Reports: Upon delivery of a labeled and bar-coded opening day collection, the delivery verification process is simplified by scanning each item as it is unpacked. Validation files are then generated which identify all items received and which also create an exceptions list of missing items.

Since 1982, William B. Meyer Inc. has relocated over 1000 libraries across the country. Ranging from small local libraries to the Los Angeles Public Library with over 3 million volumes, the employment of logistics experts and proprietary technology allows every move to be completed seamlessly and without interruption. In addition to its library relocation services, William B. Meyer also maintains responsibility for the New England Regional Book Depository and the materials housed there.

Founded in 1915 and based in Stratford, Connecticut, William B. Meyer is a family-owned company which provides innovative and trusted solutions to relocation and logistics needs around the world.
